You work with trauma – you’re a mental health clinician, of course you do! You’re curious about working somatically with clients. Maybe you understand and utilize somatics in sessions or maybe you want to deepen your understanding, become more confident when using it with clients.

BUT did you know about the connection of voice, breath, somatics, and complex (or relational/attachment) trauma? Well, that’s what we’re going to focus on in this workshop series.

This four-session class series is designed specifically for mental health clinicians wanting to know more about incorporating somatic exercises and voice when working with clients.

Based on theories developed by Wilhelm Reich and Alexander Lowen, grounded in mindfulness based and somatic techniques, this workshop will both educate and provide opportunities for practice. We will cover what happens in the nervous system (including parts of the brain) during trauma response and resolution from a somatic view and how that relates to the breath and voice. You’ll learn immediately-easy-to-apply techniques that include the body’s natural built-in cathartic and integration instrument; the voice.

We’ll see anxiety and its tensions in the body as potential energy that can be released and integrated. These natural and normal responses begin to transform into greater resilience.

This four-class series is intended to be a very good start to a deepened understanding of how to use vocal somatic techniques grounded in psychoanalytic theories for resolving developmental and relational trauma patterns that can lead to anxiety and depression. We will learn, explore, and have opportunity to discuss application with clients.

Appropriate for out-of-the-box thinkers who would like to explore wholistic methods grounded in science.

We will meet 4pm – 5:30pm. There is an expectation that registration is a commitment to participate in all sessions (except in case of emergency).

The dates:

October 20th

November 3rd and 17th

December 1st

Group size is kept very small.

Rate – $180 – $45 per session
